Well, I got a call this morning and got bumped up so I'll be on a bus this weekend. Anyone else here starting at Prime the 26th? -Adam

I'm boarding Saturday evening. Not sure where you are coming from but I'm boarding in Montgomery, AL. If your recruiter didn't tell you, be sure to bring a photo ID WITH that permit. Holly said the old license is good enough. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't asked. -Adam

Leaving from Roanoke, Va. Holly is my recruiter as well. I've got driver's license, CDL A permit and a DOT physical card. Birth certificate, too. See y'all there.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.

Make sure to bring your birth certificate AND a passport if you have one . . . Prime does go into Canada once in a while and the Canucks require a passport and the US wants one to let you back in . . . assuming you want to come back in . . .
