Background Check

As I said in my other post I've got a few offers already. I've been totally upfront about my past already and got a call back from two companies but I realized I forgot to tell one about a misdemeanor from 2006 for Knowingly damaging property under $500( I punched a hole in a wall at my apartment when I was 20). Should I just call my recruiter back and tell her ahead of the orientation or is it not that big of a deal since it's a minor charge? Do most companies do the background check before they even call you back or at orientation? It honestly slipped my mind because it was such a minor charge.

Every situation is different, but I strongly advise getting in front of it and letting your recruiter know. If you don't, it could be viewed as you trying to hide something.

Right. I listed all my other dirty laundry because I knew it would come up anyway. I'll just call her on Monday and let her know. Right now I'm in "future hire" status because I haven't started CDL school yet so I'm hoping it won't be viewed as an attempt to get around anything.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I was actually able to go back into my application and edit it so I added it to that section. So the info is there. Thanks for replying!
