Stay away from the Cobra CDR 840. The 12v plug overheated and melted. I use the Transcend Drivepro 200 now. Works great.

Just laid out $200 on the Garmin Dash Cam 20. Yeah, I know, a bit salty. It works really well - and makes me my coffee too. smile.gif

Night recording is great, time stamp w/ mph, lat and longitude. Ability to dismount and take photographs. Handy button to quickly save an event, which saves files before and after the saved event file. Of course, also has a sensor to pick up vibrations for any impacts or sudden acceleration / braking. Best Dash Cam I got a 32GB card to be able to record over 4 hours of HD at 1080. Now my wife and daughter can see what it's like to venture into Jersey City and NYC at night! And... if I get side-swiped by another UPS driver pulling doubles , I'll have it documented.

As a side note, I mainly got this to protect myself from other truck drivers. Seriously, I've had more issues with other commercial drivers than I have 4 wheelers. What a shame. It's been fun showing videos to my family, but I feel even more secure having my dash cam rolling non-stop.

Thanks Guys for the amazing post it is good for who really looking to pic best dash cam. I would like to say you should find the right one from here.

Doubles:

Refers to pulling two trailers at the same time, otherwise known as "pups" or "pup trailers" because they're only about 28 feet long. However there are some states that allow doubles that are each 48 feet in length.

OWI:

Operating While Intoxicated
