I am a 48 year old (gulp) woman/wife/mom/nana embarking on a new road in my life. I have been researching and gathering information on trucking for 3 years, as I wanted to wait to make this lifestyle change until my youngest Daughter graduated high school. So after doing a lot of homework I have decided to go to Quality Drivers cdl School through Celadon Trucking out of Indiana. I have already been approved with a start date of July 8th, I am super excited and extremely nervous. Any advice will be greatly appreciated as I have been a wife and mother for 30 years and this will be my first time away from home, ouch!!!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Wow, Linda, we're like the same age going to school on the same day and both beginners!!! You obviously are not alone! We'll be fine! Good luck to us!

WELCOME Linda and DD.....You will have a good time in school, and it will be alot easier if you follow thru with doing the High Road Training Program.This course will give you everything that the school you have chosen will throw at you. It would be nice to sit in class and know that what they are teaching, you have already gone thru. Keep us posted and ask any questions you want...we are here to help.
