Over The Road:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

They have a lot of trucks out here, in Colorado. All I have for you is word from a friend of a friend. That's total hearsay. The guy's been with them for about 2-3 years and what I heard was that they were not incredibly easy to work for. That said, well he's still working for them, so just like anywhere, some guys will complain about anything and some guys can hang anywhere, no matter how bad the circumstances.

You might actually love 'em.

Sometimes, I just look at the condition of the trucks in a company. I think that's one of your first indicators of whether or not they have the cash flow to take care of their fleet and whether or not their drivers are content enough to keep their tractor looking good.

Let us know what else you may find out.

This is what I do.

I live right off of HWY 69 in Oklahoma, which is a major trucking route in our state. I write down the names of the trucks that pass by that are clean and look good and seem well maintained. Those are the companies I research more on.

May be silly, but I got to narrow the list down some how :)

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
