"YOU'VE GOT MAIL"

ok. So your all settled in. You just ate. You pee'd. Got your drink all set. You are looking at 300 miles on your navigation. Got your cruise set and here it comes. "You have a new message" you wanna ignore it but that unopened envelope is staring at you, just taunting you. You think "i can ignore you" when in reality its tearing you up inside. "What if the reciever canceled the shipment?" "what if there's an 89 car pile up ahead of me?" so it finally gets to you and you pull over and hit the button...... "Remember fleet, your dm's take lunch from 12 to 1 so please try to reframe from calling during these times" ughhh. Really?confused.gif

Locks on trailer doors

We are required to put our lock on all loads. And the seals are a joke typically. Usally the shippers hand you the seal. You go put it on and leave. No one actually knows you did it. And most recievers say take it off and bring it in or throw it in back of trailer. Again no one sees. Doont get me wrong, some do check. I picked up aload of detroit diesel engines in Michigan once and i asked about a seal. They laughed and said "who's gonna get in there and walk off with an engine?" lol, true. Ironically enough when we got to the reciever they said there was one missing. I guess they figured it out.

Need some help guys

I am with swift and even though i found many flaws in their training (after private school that is) i still feel that they are a good company an ebb probably not much different than the rest. 1. They will tell you they pay x # of dollars for training based on a hourly rate for "on duty" hours logged and "driving" hours logged. And the amount they tell you is based on being on duty for 14 hours a day and driving all of your 11. Its not gonna happen. 2. The people who end up training are typically lease operators whom are having trouble making a pay check so they train to make up the difference. Thats leaves you being trained by someone who can not afford to buy their own truck. Has no business sense. And does not want you on their truck but has no other choice. I am sure there are good trainers too. Dont get me wrong.

3. Even though they are a training company, you get the feeling that all the processes are new to them. For instance i would make a request via qualcomm and get told "no" well i found that to be extremely frustrating. My thought is it should be "no, you have to do it this way" i did not make a request for fun, tell me the right way to go about.

Bottom line is they have a process. Once you test out and get in the system then everything just flows perfectly. I have yet to sit and wait for a load. I am Always pre planed before i even finish my current load. I am overall happy here and i hope some of this info helps. Good luck.

Truck must haves

That's exactly what I'm asking. What are those must have items that each of you make sure to never leave home without.

double-quotes-start.png

This may not be for truck but are MUST HAVES for me. I bought a little tool bag from walmart for like $6. (Doesn't look like a purse too much) and in this bag i have all my normal toiletries + (here come the most important items) a can of scrubbing bubbles, my own toilet paper, and a box of flushable wet wipes.

double-quotes-end.png

Now i am down for the night and can further explain. I cant tell you how many times i have ran to the bathroom to only find one stall left and then you realize why every one skiped over it. You open the door and someone pooed all over the seat, or theres no toilet paper. I have handed over my scrubbing bubbles under the stall before when you hear the stall open next to you and some guy says "wtf" he appreciated my readiness. Lol.

My truck stop app sucks.

I hit the button and it tells me address and how far. To much thinking. I want to hit a button, see a map of me on a road and see stops ahead of me. Any one have any recommendations? I currently have MyDAT trucker.

OTR, Gaming and Wi-Fi, OH MY!!

You might end up keeping your plan. I have been very carefull with mine and i blew through my 2 gb in 2 weeks. I upgraded. The only video i stream is an occasional face book tid bit. I found that the google maps eats a lot of data. I always look at satellite views of the shippers and recievers where i am going so i can see their entrances and such so i know what to expect when i get there.
