Another suggestion, get past the curb on your right, swing wide to the right and pull up into the driveway across the way and make is a straight line back (if the picture you showed is correct).

Ernie

This is what I ended up doing. I'm a little crooked, but I got it. I thought it was going to take me a lot longer, haha.

This is my second solo trip. Two trucks can fit in that door on the right. I've never backed into anything like this before. Waiting makes it worse. I think I'll be ok just venting.

Husband n Wife team.... Our saga to becoming drivers for Werner Enterprises

Well it's Friday and we have been assigned a truck!! A 2016 Freightliner Cascadia AT only has 47k miles on it .... And she's a beauty!! I'm a bit sad that my first experience as a " real" driver won't be a manual, I'm actually really good with the gears. However, my hubbys left hip will be thanking us profusely and I'm sure that creep mode will be much appreciated by us both in city traffic.

Norm is on his final day of train the trainer and should be released within the next couple hours. I'm about to start the " nesting" process and make Stormy a home. Yes, I've named our truck Stormy and there's a story behind it, which I'll save for another day!

We came to Orientation during Werners 60th anniversary celebrations and Driver appreciation week, and everyone is all smiles and helpfulness at the terminal. The hotel the trainees are placed into has recieved quite a bit of negative commentary from all that I have met who are staying there, which makes me grateful that we have been able to stay at my mom's!!! The room service is excellent!! And FREEE!!!!!

I was done with all my CBTs ( computer based training) on Monday, essentially done with orientation. So I was told to attend several classes, backing, pre trip inspection and pre trip planning, equipment, smith system.... All classes I need before I become a qualified driver anyway, so got those out of the way. I have numerous handouts and pamphlets covering everything from 401k, stock options to how to do a proper 90 backing and sexual harrassment. We have been fed breakfast and lunch up till Monday, then just lunch only.

Thus far my experience has been pleasant and enjoyable for the most part. Eager to see what the next phase brings......

You're training sounds a lot like mine, haha. I finished orientation yesterday, hopefully I found what's going on tomorrow.

Trucking school starts in less than 8 hours...

I was really stressed about the pretrip, but it was one of the things I passed on my first test, thank god! The instructors kept telling me it's pretty rare to fail the pretrip, and they were right, haha!

There are no intelegent life forms born North or East of California........Yeah I said it!!!

In 1770, Southwick, Massachusetts was granted independence from Westfield, Massachusetts. In May 1774, residents in southern Southwick also petitioned Connecticut for entry and secession from northern Southwick, on the grounds they were south of the royally approved border of the Massachusetts Bay Colony (three miles south of the Charles River). The part west of Congamond Lake joined Simsbury, and the part east of the lake joined Suffield.[98]

In 1791 and 1793, commissioners were sent from both states to survey the boundary line yet again, but were unable to agree until a compromise was reached in 1803–04. Massachusetts accepted the nullification of the 1713 compromise and the loss of the border towns, but regained the portion of southern Southwick west of the lake. This resulted in the modern boundary with Connecticut, which is a relatively straight east-west line, except for the "Southwick jog", a small, mostly rectangular piece of Massachusetts surrounded by Connecticut on three sides.

, (little shout out to my faves). I looked up Southwick, MA. I checked the satellite image and I have one burning question,

double-quotes-start.png

WHY?

double-quotes-end.png

Why did Massachusetts feel the need to scoop out that small section of Connecticut? I mean come on, your border with Connecticut could have been a continuous straight line. You could have share that pond. We here in,

double-quotes-start.pngSo what was in that small pouch that MA just had to have????

I won't be able to sleep tonight until I know.....confused.gifwtf-2.gif

Obtaining a CDL in Massachusetts - A revelation

How did you make out? I'm in MA also. Testing has proved to be a lot more difficult than I initially anticipated. Thought I'd be a lot further than I am at this point.
