Following distance

As always; weather conditions, construction and traffic density require maintaining additional following distance.

No matter what the conditions are, if possible, I try not to “bunch” with other traffic, especially trucks.

Use common sense.

TERMINATION

Bumping PackRats reply.

Let's call this what it is: Hit and Run, as in leaving the scene of an accident.

ALL COMPANIES HAVE THE SAME POLICY FOR THIS. You stay at the scene until released by law enforcement and/or the company's safety department.

A week? Not gonna happen, potentially too distracting. I prefer the solitude and the space.

Pre-Trip Help: Clearance Lights or Marker Lights?

Many times these terms are used interchangeably. Although it’s incorrect, some officials administering the CDL pretrip test might ding a student in misusing these terms. Or maybe not.

To be sure… By definition clearance lights identify the extreme width and height of a truckcab, truck body and trailer. Like the upper corners of a trailer and tractor cab. Above the trailer doors, etc. Obviously there are tolerances here… some tractors have the 5 clearance lights on the cab roof. Others are above the windshield (Cascadia as an example).

Rule of thumb… Anything up high is a clearance light. Anything lower are marker lights. I think the important takeaway is, if it’s a light and not a reflector, it’s needs to illuminate. If it doesn’t illuminate, get it fixed.

I’m old… I forget.

Sorry. That’s news to me.

You must've forgotten that Brett only allowed a few long-time mods to have the ability to approve/disapprove posts by new members or those in moderation. It was mostly done to prevent vulgar or offensive posts from being published, but also to stop spam. With 4 of us monitoring new posts, it has been successful I think.

To be clear, none of us have the ability to edit or delete posts.

Lost My Fleet Manager!

Good luck with this Kearsey. I’ve experienced changes in management, but nothing like what you described.

Tougher times.

Bumping this. In reference to Turtles rebuke of Ryan? Totally true. I agree 100%.

To my fellow moderators… delete Ryans nonsense. Anything antagonistic and insulting, delete it. Ryan cannot be reasoned with, don’t try. It only encourages another hundred words of useless information. Delete his BS.

You all know what is right and wrong. Brett gave you moderation rights for a reason. Use them wisely.

G-Town,

What Moderation Rights? All I have ever noticed is a word in red: "Moderator" on my profile. No Approve/Disapprove comments, edit, etc. capabilities for me. It's been that way for the previous two or three years.

Some solutions to common trailer issues

I frequently run across errant handles that won't pull far enough to release the pins. I have a couple load straps that have a hook on the ends in addition to the slot end. The straps are ratchet types, effectively like a come along.

I use vice grips for this.

Good topic Davy!

Bruce's approach is none of your concern. He asks a genuine question in a genuine way, and his topics spark beneficial conversations.

Your approach however is always simply to criticize someone or something in an effort to boost your own self-perceived sense of worth. Your replies spark negativity.

You are not the same.
