Hey ChickieMonster

Hey just met the TransAm recruiter today. Nice equipment, 30 cpm could be better but what is a ballpark figure of miles that you would get when you first started? He was preaching 2500 to 3000 but he is a recruiter.

Cooking and refrigerators in your truck?

Starting my second week of CDL school. Never been in a tractor/trailer. What does everyone do for cooking or keeping items cool. Are the trucks big enough for a little refrain.

Prime Inc- Passport

I really don't want to travel to Canada or Mexico. I know Primes website says you have to get a passport. Without a passport will they overlook me. I have had no accidents or tickets and no drug use. I've had 2 jobs my whole life and I am currently 53, so I am stable at work. What does everyone think.

In CDL School

Start of my 3rd day in school. Took my permit test this morning. Thank you to Brett and the High Road Training for getting me ready. Hopefully all the book stuff is out of the way so we can get into the meat of the school-driving. Again thanks Brett

No I don't have my permit. I have killed the high road training. If any of those questions are on my permit test I should do pretty well. I am bouncing back and forth between High Road Training and my state CDL handbook .

Told Werner I woud do Dollar Gen.

And that has to do with questions I have. Is unloading time considered part of your driving time. I hear what they are saying but you don't drive that many miles so how do you get to the paychecks they say you are going to make. I am a little skeptical. I am not afraid to work I just don't like being mislead. If I am going to be away from my wife I am going to work and make money, don't want to sit around. But I am new and not sure how everything is going to work out the way they say.

Finally

Well today I took the plunge. Starting TDI in Sanford on Tuesday . So it looks like I will be bugging everyone on here for a while to come. I am so excited. My second career and I welcome the opportunities it will bring me. Thank you to everyone that has answered all my crazy questions. They aren't quit done as I haven't picked who I want to work for. I did a few weeks ago go to a flatbed company in Jacksonville and wasn't very impressed. Dirty and they kept me waiting over an hour so I left. I hope I have better luck with future recruiters. Can anyone give me a heads on what to expect from the companies that I will speak with. More important then that should I ask any specific questions. My wife is about 60% on board but she will get better.
