Where One door closes another one opens and with the help of the safety director!

So a quick update. Looks like Paul Transportations receuiter and I had a miscommunication about school. Small but significant. She thought I was doing it online but Liberty wont let me do that till I get a GPA with them so it just was not a good timing. Then I called Bennett Motor Express, and had to leave a message and then I called Payne Transportation and the super-visor says he is willing to work with my schedule of being in school in August!!! 🙏☝️. Yaweh has my back, even when I fall and fail in my personal and career life He is still there! Praise Him!

Oldschool good to hear from you too! Your right, I should not have made those mistakes and then made excuses. I see that now. Im blessed though to have God who is greater than I by a long shot, and I already have a employer whose willing to work with me and I am going to remember to be productive and not hurt myself.

double-quotes-start.png

it had added up to me not being productive enough

Hey Victor, it's great to hear from you!

What I quoted above is the key takeaway from this. You've heard us talk about how trucking is performance based. Everything about your success and your employer's enjoyment of having you on board is based on your productivity. It's the one thing that shows you've got this. Excuses like...

double-quotes-start.png

I had switched the lines on BY ACCIDENT mind you

double-quotes-end.png
double-quotes-start.png

accidental mishap going the wrong direction

double-quotes-end.png
double-quotes-start.png

I had told him during the meeting that I would definitely improve and that it was just an mishap

double-quotes-end.png

carry no water. The safety guy was stern but right when he said...

double-quotes-start.png

it was not up for debate.

double-quotes-end.png

You've made some typical rookie mistakes. That's OK. What's not OK is excusing them as simple "mishaps." You've got to realize how critical it is to be on point every moment out here. This is child's play compared to your goals of being a fighter pilot. FOCUS Victor, FOCUS. Your future depends on it.

So just an update, I had to be flown out to Tulsa, Oklahoma to get my mri that I then found out was not necessary and then I got my truck which was a T680 that had just been overhauled and detailed. I got my FIRST step deck load and then started to plan my route and finish taking care of things necessary for flatbed with my new truck. I get going and the place where I selected to get my fuel was suppost to be down my route. Found out it took me to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and then back towards Virginia where I was suppost to be going in the first place 🤨. I ended up stopping at Chateau, Oklahoma and spending the night which was 126 miles away from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I get a qaulcomm message, Victor call Russell (Russell Robertson) at that time I was getting a new bluetooth set. Gonna have to return it though. So then I see I have two messages and the second one is Victor bring the load back there's something wrong with it.

So I thought that a bit weird but ok. So I do my pretrip and get up the road. I get to the terminal and go through the check point to make sure the truck is in good working order and do all my duties as is required in that situation and I take the load drop it cause they said they would get me another one; then I get another message saying go see Russell. Ok. So I take the truck to door 8 at the garage for some repairs. I go into the main building to see Russell and I am told he is running behind so I get lunch.

Russell gets back and I go to see him and he says have a seat I'll be with you shortly and I asked if this was a good or bad thing and he says bad. And in my mind I am like ????. So he gets things done calls me in and we go to this room. He basically said that because I turned in a trailer that I had switched the lines on BY ACCIDENT mind you but genuinely thought there was a problem; it did cost a few days in a hotel I originally paid for but they reimbursed me and the van that I thought had a wheel bearing going bad and then found out whoops nope and then the accidental mishap going the wrong direction that it had added up to me not being productive enough, mind you I was on light duty but he was gonna give me the option of resigning or being let go. Now I had told him during the meeting that I would definitely improve and that it was just an mishap, but he insisted it was not up for debate. So I chose to resign. But Russell the caring man that he is, suggested me over to where a lot and I mean a lot of former Meltonators go after Melton is Paul Transportation Inc. It is not even two blocks away from Melton. Lot of good friends with Russell is there too! Also they helped me understand why he did what he did and I am genuinely excited to work with these amazing people.

Im sad about the story ending with Melton maybe temporarily but I have learned so much from Paul Transportation and so its actually gone to my benefit!

Hope this is a good update. Ill make a diary for Paul Transportation here today sometime.

Melton Truck Lines and experiences

Thanks Gtown. Yeah it is weird. Now they pushed it out for the 29th I tthink. All because of two truckers needing to go to the airport and a recovery truck and they could've gotten a uber but good thing I did not since now they needed my insurance because workers comp was approved with a claim cause its from Oklahoma. Sigh. But I am enjoying watching Shipping Wars, Oscars and going to a Catholic Church and learning their worship style.

Victor is this a workman’s comp injury? Sounds like it should be. Odd that they are doing an MRI 3 weeks after it happened.

I have a partially torn rotator cuff; a hold over from decades of playing baseball... I know all too well what you are dealing with.

Best wishes for a full recovery.

16 year olds driving big rigs

Oh yeah! 😊👍👍

I was at OSUT, USAMPS Ft. McClellan in 1982 with 16 and 17 year old DEP MP's driving Deuce and a Halfs. I've seen 70 year old super truckers that were less mature than some of the PV1 and PV2's I was there with. Properly trained, supervised, and vetted (read Military Heavy Truck Driver), I guess why not.

Hi James,

I think it's really cool that you are learning how to drive a truck. Honestly, as long as you are not texting, playing around with a phone or acting stupid when on the road then go for it! However, at 16 I would suggest that you STAY IN SCHOOL. Dude, go to college... Live a bit. Trucking isn't going anywhere and will be here in the next few years and long after that.

Well said, you!

How've YOU been ?!? How's YOUR driving plight??

Excellent advice.

Hope you are well!

Hi Anne,

I'm still with the same company as before. Not happy. Underpaid and working 7 days a week now...

I'm considering going with Fast Forward VA to get my foot in the door. Not that I am against any of the company provided training options. Perhaps, it's because I am far too self independent. I have trust issues... It's just the matter of saying goodbye to a 10 year relationship that I have with my current employer, and making sure that I have everything in place for the big transition.

Its better just to drive. Heck what you learn in school doesnt even really help you in real world situations unless your going for an engineer or physics major. Im only going to Liberty University to get a degree in Business Administration with an Entrepreneurship Cognate because I want to join as an officer in the Airforce or Navy. I get what your saying but if he wants to accelerate his success in the working world I would be all for that. Heck at 15 I considered myself an adult and acted as such, course not all the time but parents definitely took notice. If the DS and cabal gov we have didnt interfere with every aspect of our lives then we would be better off.

He asking about what you think about 16 years olds driving not a legal course. And the legal system is DS and Cabal rigged so.

Hi James,

16 year olds can not drive big trucks because they are minors and (generally) can not be held liable in court. It all comes down to being legally responsible for your actions.

Did you know that even at 18 you can only drive within your state, and only after 21 can you drive out of your state with a commercial motor vehicle?

With training thats taken care of, I talked to a Hatian that has been driving since he was 15 when in Hati and then continued driving when he got over here 4 years ago. He is 32 years old. 15-30=15 years of driving.

I do think that everyone should have to go through learning how to drive a rig that way they are more responsible and courteous afterwards MOST of the time.

Private property? Go for it. Driving on public roadways? Not a chance in hell. Look at the typical 16 year old and how they drive. I don't trust being around them in their moms minivan much less something capable of hauling 80k pounds.

Great first couple weeks and somewhat rough but at least we are getting the truck cleaned

Very true, I definitely can see that being valuable! What are some trucking stories you have? Did you serve in the military?

Glad it is going well... and you're absolutely correct. Communication is important. Documented communication is IMPERATIVE. If you don't have a qualcom / people-net etc unit in your truck, communicate by phone and follow that up with an email or text message. Keep that stuff - you never know when you might need to demonstrate basis for operational decisions.
