Gun Protection while on the road.

I seem to recall my getting the CLP covered that here in Idaho. No way. You'll be walked. Maybe more if the DOT finds it

Do any of you guys carry protection of self defense ? I have my conceal carry certificate just got to get my permit. Or is all based on company policy ? I guess my Bible is enough protection lol

Start training the 3rd of January. Very Nervous!

Greg, Welcome. I too will be heading to school with SWIFT in Idaho on the 3rd of Jan. Crazy emotions already. If you haven't been studying the High Road training program on this site, may I suggest ya get on it. It has been a priceless training tool for me and others. Currently working on the weights and balance segment and just finished the HOS segment. I could not imagine going into training without prior study of this program.

I only live 1.5hrs away from the academy. I was up that way yesterday and swung in and spoke with a student when he was on a smoke break. Looked over the training field. Actually walked in on the class ( what a bone head) everyone was so focused on their studies that no one even noticed me, not even the instructors. I live so close that I'm just going to take my camper up and live in it for the duration of training. The RV park is only 5min away from the academy. At least my wife can come up and see me on Sundays. Good luck to us.

Hi guys and gals,I'm new to the forum. I will be heading to training the 3rd of January. I am very excited as this is something I have always wanted to do,but at the same time I am so worried about my wife and family, and being away. They are supportive, but Ive never been away from my wife. Anyway, wanted to say hello, amd maybe looking for some reassurence. Thanks, Greg

double-quotes-start.png

Easier to maneuver back up the logging roads.

That's the biggest reason.

HOS - mindset and practicality

Thanks for the info. I'm currently studying the HOS on the High Road. It's kicking my butt, guess I'm a little slow with it. The 8/2 split really throws a kink in it, but I'm seeing when I get it figured out that It could be very advantageous or it could get me violated pretty quick. Still slated to start SWIFT Lewiston in Jan. The nerves are starting to kick in. Please keep pouring the info and comments out there. I'm sponging everything I can off this site.

I forgot to mention one of my favorites. The 8/2 split. I have used this tool a few times and more to my advantage!!

Just Another Trucker Training Diary?

Paul, I really don't know what to say. Of all the crappy luck. I have not been able to get your story out of my head for the last 2 days, it's just crazy. Isn't it amazing the tests HE puts before us? I will say this though. After reading this site and going over the warnings about OTR with a family, I personally would never have attempted it. I know your pain. I traveled international for 11 yrs and had small ones at home. I don't care how you slice it, it does not work. That being said my wife and I now know that there is going to be a very tough year ahead for us, even without kids at home. My goal is to be regional with my terminal only 2 hrs away from my house I hope to sneak in some quick home time on the clock. I suppose I'm just reiterating what G-Town is saying. We need to really think this through before pulling the trigger and jumping into this career. Anyway I wish you all the best and Merry Christmas.

Failed drug screen

No truer words were ever spoken. This Feb I will be 32yrs clean and sober. I know the game the user plays. Some of you may say I should maybe keep that to myself, when in fact I happen to be extremely humbled and also proud of the new lease on life I was given through hard work and a commitment. You guys think learning to truck is tough? Try getting clean and stay that way for 32 yrs. After that , there is nothing in this life that I can't handle. Looking forward to this new trucking challenge. dancing.gif

The bottom line is this: drugs, and their users, have no place in this industry. Never have. Never will. Period.
