Dashboard warning lights

Did the regen light come on before the red stop engine light? If so and the regen was not done it upset the computer and may have to go to a dealer to be reset

It’s at the dealership now, soot levels on digital display showed regen was done, soot levels good, a 2.5hr regen did not work...what’s funny, is across the street from the pilot I was at is a Freightliner dealership, truck being limited to 5mph, it was a fun ride across the street with flashers on, the thought right now is the filters will prob need to be sent off to be cleaned out even though digital display showed good soot levels..

I’m in Oak Creek, WI, my company put me up in hotel...😁😁😁

Regen would not work last night, which they say will work, regen finally started this morning, ( was exhausted needed sleep), they say this regen will take over an hour...if not..freightliner dealer truck goes☹️☹️☹️☹️ They of course asked every question to troubleshoot, and they pulled engine codes remotely and did not see any thing that would indicate the lights on my dashboard..

How Can Truckers Protect Themselves From Being Attacked On The Road? Article by Rainy

Great stuff as usual, Rainy

Just yesterday I was in a Pilot getting coffee and another driver was doing the same thing only he had the ubiquitous hands free headset on a was carrying on a conversation, making no effort to keep his voice down. I heard him say he was going to get his gun out of his truck and cap someone in the head (editors note: language sanitized) . Then I saw him come out and climb into a US Express truck. Do they allow guns in their trucks?

No they dont...

Empty Trailer Had Damaged Freight In It

A driver complained that a trailer she was told to take as an empty had damaged freight in it. She hadn't checked, and now couldn't get it loaded at the customer.

The lesson is to open your doors and check the trailer.

More truck problems

Seem to be having more truck problems, decided to merge over to let these people on the interstate more easily without getting cut off, etc. As I merged over, traffic slowed down so I applied my brakes lightly and boom:

0509252001554833028.jpg

ABS light is on, cruise control not working, hill start assist isn't working, etc.

ABS says something about a wire being shorted to ground or something like that. Really weird. Called it in, they're going to route me to an operating center to have it checked out.

Your trucks sure don't like u, what did u do to ur transformer😁😁😁😁😁

HOS changes coming

April 9, 2019 LOUISVILLE, Kentucky. U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao announced that the Department of Transportation has sent an hours of service (HOS) Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for approval. Chao did not state the timetable before the rule is published in the Federal Register, but OMB has in the past moved proposed rules within days. Given the importance of this rule, a quick approval from OMB is likely.

At last year’s Mid-America Trucking Show, you told the Department you wanted flexibility … and the Department listened, Chao said before a packed audience in a seminar room at this year’s Mid-America in Louisville, Kentucky. β€œWe asked for your participating, and you participated, with over five thousand, two hundred comments."

β€œThe Notice of Proposed Rulemaking was just sent to the Office of Management and Budget,” Chao added, to applause. β€œI can’t give you specifics because it is still in the rules stage, but I can tell you the Department understands the importance of giving you the flexibility [to do your jobs].

Last August, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrationput forth an Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) to give the public a chance to comment on current regulations. The ANPRM sought public input on several potential revisions to HOS rules, including: Whether to expand the current 100 air-mile β€œshort-haul” exemption from 12 hours on-duty to 14 hours on-duty, in order to be consistent with the rules for long-haul truck drivers; Whether to extend the current 14-hour on-duty limitation by up to two hours when a truck driver encounters adverse driving conditions. Whether to revise the mandatory 30-minute break for truck drivers after 8-hours of continuous driving; and Whether to reinstating the option for splitting up the required 10-hour off-duty rest break for drivers operating trucks that are equipped with a sleeper-berth compartment.

In addition, the ANPRM seeks public comment and relevant data on two recently submitted petitions requesting regulatory relief from HOS rules (1) pertaining to the 14-hour on-duty limitation (filed by the Owner-Operators Independent Drivers Association) and (2) pertaining to the 10-hour off-duty requirement (filed by TruckerNation).

OOIDA has been pushing for changes to the regulations for more flexibility. Since the hard enforcement date of April 1, 2018, for electronic logging devices (ELD), the rigid nature of HOS rules – specifically the 14-hour clock – have become a more noticeable problem for many. Chao also said DOT will seek to make the Crash Preventability Demonstration program, which began in 2017 and ends on July 30, 2019, permanent.

β€œThe Department will propose to make this demonstration program permanent,” she said. β€œThe Department will also look to add additional [scenarios].”

The program seeks to assign proper blame for accidents, giving carriers and drivers the opportunity to have a crash removed from their record if the driver was not at fault.
