Your favorite region of the country?
I drive exclusively in the Mtn west now and absolutely love it. This is a grand and beautiful country and I'd urge any new driver to go out and experience it all if you can before driving dedicated. Being an old man I've had the opportunity to see nearly all of it. From the slow beauty of the south to the frenetic race of New York City. The gently rolling plains and the absolute grandeur of our mountains.
This is truly the best place on earth. I have sailed the seas and seen a good part of it and like Dorothy said "there's no place like home"
Be safe out here and enjoy the ride and if you're lucky enough someday you'll get to Montana. Or as John Stienbeck called it "The last best place"

Problems With My Company Truck
PARK IT NOW!!!! There is no way you should be driving that thing. Call safety ASAP. If you can't get thru to safety call the night DM. But whatever you do don't take it on the road for your same and that of the motoring public.
If your company won't help you, you are better off without them. There are plenty of jobs for safe drivers out there. Do not get your driving career off to this kind of start.
Can I ask who you are driving for?

Not so sure a dedicated account is for me....
Hey Jolie. Running dedicated is a whole different animal than OTR. I just started on a walmart grocery account in the west. We cover a large area so sometimes it can feel like otr but when I need to do a 34 reset I can go home to do it. I have been doing it for 2 months and have not taken any home time yet! And I have been home more than in the year I ran otr. Takes some getting used to but for me the benefits way out weigh the downside.
My biggest problem getting started was figuring out the reefer. I had never pulled one and hadn't a clue what to do with it!! They said here's your reefer and they may as we have said "here's your sign" I felt that stupid but it all came together and I am lovin it.
Hope all turns out well for you.

Hazard lights at railroad crossings
Is blinker juice that expensive nowdays? I'll throw my hazards on if I'm coming up on slow traffic! Costs nothing and let's my tailgaters know what I'm doing. I know a driver who got a preventable in a rear ender for not flashing in heavy traffic. Throw the switch when it is appropriate never hurts to be safe.

Hey Eckoh.
My volvo was having an issue with the primary tank as well. Didn't bother me til the cold weather and didn't want to set my trailer brakes. The shop at the DC I run out of had it fixed in about 1 hour along with a couple of recall issues. Most terminals that have a few volvos in thier fleet shouldn't have any problems taking care of it.
Good luck and stay safe and wam

Look on the display. You need to take time to figure all your info on the display out. Use the buttons on the smart stick, right side of the wheel. It will give you a wealth of info and you can customize it to display any configuration you need

Where are you picking it up at? Phoenix usually has a KW or two setting around. Talk to Frank in truck assignments if you are in Phoenix. He might not get you the truck you want but he can help if you get a truck you definitely don't want.

If it's a 2014 it's most likely a freighliner. That is what I have mostly been seeing as 14 co. Trucks

You're right David. We go out full and come back to the DC empty. I80 in Wyo is NEVER fun on the way back to the barn. We sometimes do backhauls but I've haven't had one from Wyo yet
