It's up to your doctor.
The DOT doc just wanted to be sure that you doctor says it's ok to drive while you're taking the meds. If you have any concerns at this point call your doctor and see if you should come in and talk to him about it.
Bottom line is the DOT doc passed you so you're in the clear at this point.
Though depending on where you go to work in the future you may want to get a letter from your doc saying the Lexapro does not affect your driving.

Thank you, DSH69. I actually got my doc to go ahead and write that letter, anyway. Just need to go pick it up. So it sounds like I am in the clear! I was just worried there was some kind of written rule, like....you have to have an appointment every month, or three months, or whatever. But sounds like that is not the case.

Hello, all. This is my first post to TruckingTruth, but I have been using this website quite extensively as I begin my trucking career. I'm signing on with PAM's Company Sponsored school, and am just waiting to take my permit test, as I've just completed my DOT Physical. My one concern is this- I am prescribed Lexapro 20mg. I was up front with the recruiters. They said PAM is fine with it, so long as my doctor conducting the physical is fine with it. The doctor conducting the physical said it would be okay, but asked, "Have you been going to your appointments?". Since I haven't had an appointment with this doctor in over a year concerning my meds, I just said, "Uh, I guess?". He was very put off by this. He still passed me through, but mentioned that I -CANNOT- miss my appointments about my medication with my doctor, or they will pull me off the road real quick. He even said, "Lexapro isn't a medication any doctor is just going to put you on and say, "Okay, you're fine, go on your way, just keep taking this forever."." I realize that's probably standard practice, but the truth is, my doctor has done exactly that. So it seems that I need to start asking my doctor to have appointments with me concerning my medication to make it look right the company. So, here's my question- how often do these appointments need to be? I would really appreciate the help. Thanks for all the advice so far, guys.
