So I had a level 1 inspection on my 2016 Mack & 2016 Van Gaurd 53'dry van trailer at the Perry Port of Entry weight station on I15NB on the 13th of sept.

My first level 1

No fault found on my elog

Loose bolt found on my dot bumper

Air leak detected by inspector on my air bag leveling valve

These issues found after 45min inspection...

Was told I could finish my run and unload my four stops in Washington but repairs were required within 15 days on air leak and loose bolt and I could not accept another load until document she gave me was signed and faxed back to Utah dot by my company.

I drove 71 miles to flying j in Jerome Idaho to be told by not one but three mechanics at Bosselman boss shop fleet services that there was no detectable air leak whatsoever.

I tried to explain to the inspector that the manner in which she chock blocked my rear drive tire was the cause of the "air leak" and her pulling on the leveler actuating arm increased the "air leak" because that was the function of the arm attached to the valve, releasing air from the suspension and "leveling the axle", but she would have nothing of the sort...

She did however find it necessary to complain about having to work on Sunday's and tell me about her trip to Dallas Tx and her five brothers and uncles and sisters who drive and service our industry's and how she gets lost unless she can see the lake over there and the mountain over here.....she sent me on my way...1hr30min after I was hand signaled into the inspection lane.

Utah I want to file a complaint...wtf.gifwtf.gifwtf-2.gif

I mean I have 30,000 miles on the truck she spent 20 minutes alone checking the slack adjusters on the trailer and tractor....

Tell me guys is this what I have too look forward to at a weight station DOT check??

It was like she intentionally found issues with my rig...cause the nine other bolts on the dot bumper weren't loose

She passed the trailer

Refused to pass the rig....

Aren't these inspectors supposed to have a basic working knowledge of how our trucks and its systems operate??

I literally spent ten minutes explaining why the abs light won't activate on my trailer unless I turn off the ignition key and wait for the truck to shut itself down after it runs its diagnostics at shut down....and then turn it back on once the dash turns off...

I mean wtf!!!

I pressurized the air system too 100 psi, per her request, before she did her undercarriage check on her creeper

30 min later she asked me what the air gauges read and I told her 99 on main and 100 on secondary

All she did was humph

I mean I been doing a dot air pressure leak check twice a day since her inspection and there is no freakin AIR LEAK!!!

TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.

You would think do but they do not have a working knowledge of how trucks work, especially when it comes to leveling valves and how they actually work. All they know is that they hear an air leak.

Maybe they had a quota.

Sounds like you did a good job "trying" to reason with them.

I learned from repoing if u don't feed into their mood, aggression, attitude, taunts, demeanor it ends up better for u than gettin all fussy and hot...

I truly believe had I argued with her and made like I was mad about what she did and wrote up she would have found some way to fine me personally instead of just costing the company CSA SAFETY points....let alone shutting me down on the spot and demanding the truck be "repaired" on the spot... shocked.png s

CSA:

Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA)

The CSA is a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) initiative to improve large truck and bus safety and ultimately reduce crashes, injuries, and fatalities that are related to commercial motor vehicle
