Is there anyway to follow a post without leaving a comment?

I have read posts that I would like to follow and see responses, but don't want to leave any comment, but I can't figure out how.

Hey Joe. No, there isn't.

I was a bit concerned with the potential that people might go a little crazy and just click "follow! follow! follow!" for every topic and turn this into more of a distributed email system than a forum. So I figured I better play it a bit safer and limit it to topics people have commented on or created. As it is the newest replies are always at the top and highlighted in green, so I figured the current setup would work ok. I had also considered an RSS feed for feed readers but that would also just pretty much duplicate the forum in a different format.

I'm just trying to make sure I don't overburden the server. This site is huge now:

100,000 unique visitors per month 600,000 pageviews per month 6,500 emails per month

...and growing!! So I played it a little on the conservative side with the current compromise.

Totally understand and a very good choice. Didn't even think along those lines. From now on if I want to follow a post, I will just say"HI".
