Has anyone had a chance to drive one of the Western Star 5700xe yet? What you liked , disliked, and I have also been trying to find out how much one weighs and no luck using google?

Thank you

Best bet, swing by a dealer and read the door plate for the specs, then see if you can drive one. They look impressive though.

I think it's ugly. Looks like a space ship.

It looks better than any other aero truck on the road. That is a really well designed truck. But it is made for on road applications. If you need off road trucks then you need the 4900 and fuel mileage is out the door anyhow. As for how much it weighs, they claim 17,000 pounds. They have a series of videos that go through all the design features of the truck.

They have some cool features that are standard on the truck like it does come with a visor. Can't remember if this is a feature or option but the top of the hood is like a flat black and prevents the sun from glaring off the top of the hood into the cab.

Here is the biggest difference between the Western Star and say a KW or Pete..... Sitting in the driver's seat in a KW or Pete I can reach to my right and without leaning, I can reach 3/4 of the way across the passenger seat. On a Western Star I can touch the arm rest. Does not sound like a lot of room but it is the difference between walking into the sleeper or twisting sideways to get between the seats.

I'm sure it's designed well - so are Volvos, but I think they're ugly too. smile.gif

I own a 5700xe and it isn't disappointing. Headlights work well, serviceability is great amd everything but the hood on this truck is tried and true. It's easy to drive amd I'm getting 5.9 - 6.1 real world mpg on average pulling tri axle trailer. I've always thought highway trucks are ugly and weak Givin my background but I've been proven wrong
