Unfortunately, no. I don't have any remaining educational benefits. However, there is Voc Rehab services that I could work with. I think my concern with that is I'm really chomping at the bit to get started. Based on what I know of this program, it could take until January to be approved for funding...I really don't have that long to wait.

Use the VOC REHAB, that way you are not "in debited" to a Company. You can use the High Road Training here for the next couple months to prepare yourself for school/training after the holidays. Use what benefits you have available to you, as a Navy Vet we've earned the benefits. When you talk to your VA Rep for VOC Rehab, confirm whether or not you can qualify for the Apprenticeship/O-J-T program. There are trucking companies, Brett has a list on here, that help you to earn while you learn (OJT).

I have less than a year left on my Post 9/11 and plan on going to a school to earn my CDL and use my remaining Post 9/11 for OJT.

I'm a Vietnam era vet. My educational bennies were used up before you were born.

Swift's veterans program is their own thing. I had my DD214, I was "in".

Errol thank you for your Service, I was Army, Pleiku, 70/71,, used my VA education for Flight Training back in 79/81 to get my Commercial/Inst Pilots Lic.

Problem was I could'nt afford the cost of another 1000 hours of flight time to get a job flying, I stayed with my corporate job at Xerox. I would have liked Flying for a living, but it would have still turned into a Job. I ended working for Xerox for 35+ years,, After an early retirement (buy out age 53 bridge to 55) I did a couple of other careers and ended up in Trucking.

At least I got to get the Government to pay for my Flight training,,,, A little payback for Drafting me and sending me into a War Zone.

Celadon if no money out of pocket, but you'll have a contract to fulfill to not okay tuition for their training. The training tuition is 7500. I started at 27 cpm which would go up to 33cpm start my contract. The contract options are 240,000 miles as a team driver, or if pulling reefers is fine for you 120,000 miles. If you leave before fulfilling the mileage (Like I did) you'll owe the prorated balance left.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

The only reason I left is because I got an opportunity at what I felt was to good to pass up at a local home daily job. I have nothing but good experiences from Celadon.

Committing to a company for a year (or whatever the mileage will be going solo; usually 120,000) is not a problem.

I'm pretty much YOURS Celadon...just...waiting for that call. ... ...
