With a team, you both need a certain compatibility since you will be living within 10 feet of each other for days at a time - closer together than Amazing Race teams!

The pay seems stupid at first - say 25 CPM solo and split 31 CPM team = 16 CPM each. The difference is the truck makes the 31 CPM, and you split it. So the truck goes farther in 24 hours, and you two split that. Solo you get probably a maximum 11 hours running, compared to 22-24 hours on a team truck.

If it's money you want, you get a bit more teaming, but consider the living arrangements.

CPM:

Cents Per Mile

Drivers are often paid by the mile and it's given in cents per mile, or cpm.

More miles and more pay is kind of a myth of teaming. You will each be working off the same hours limitations as a solo driver, just with two people. It's true that team freight often has longer mileage loads and many companies offer teams a slightly higher rate per mile, but the money is still split between both drivers. It can be great for teams who know each other going in (spouses, siblings, friends etc.) but for most drivers who would otherwise go solo any benefits will be outweighed by the negatives of teaming. Living on a truck with someone is hard, doubly so if you are essentially strangers to each other.

Me personally I don't suggest teaming consistent miles are a little easier to get but I've average the same bring home pay as a few guys I know who team with the same company I drive for.

The math comes out to this with my company it's .44 cpm spit with a bonus of .10 to the truck over 3500 miles plus fuel bonus.

I make 44.5 cpm solo plus fuel bonus and average roughly 2600-3300 miles a week with the lowest being 1500( I was in the shop for 2 days)

So for me unless I average a consistent 6k miles a week or more which running hard it's not worth it to ME to have to share the space be stuck with the same person for long, working out hometime etc.

Now that's just my opinion and my company so do your research and look into it, if you want the company and don't think it would get old it may be worth it to you.

As far as finding someone to team with goes idk about western I know some companies like us express have a matching program where you can talk and meet people before trying to team with them. Just be very careful who you choose to ride with you pit your safety and part of your paycheck in their hands

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
