I applied to Prime on 10/29 for school to get my cdl. Does it normally take this long to get a response? I have nothing in my background that would prevent me from driving. I have been studying the training program on this site so should I get my permit from Wisconsin before I go to prime school in Mo?

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Larry, those recruiters are swamped. Sometimes it's best to just give them a call and simply tell them you are wanting to check on the status of your application. If you can get hold of someone they will be abke to look it up electronically and will probably get the process moving along.

You just need to bring yours back up to the top of their work load. They will be glad to hear from you - it indicates to them that you are serious and want to get started.

Hours Of Service

HOS refers to the logbook hours of service regulations.
