So I got my load home for turkey day and was told I could stay home till Monday...........2 hours later, I get a message on my Qualcomm asking if I could do one more round trip after I deliver to St Paul tomorrow............always changing!

Qualcomm:

Omnitracs (a.k.a. Qualcomm) is a satellite-based messaging system with built-in GPS capabilities built by Qualcomm. It has a small computer screen and keyboard and is tied into the truck’s computer. It allows trucking companies to track where the driver is at, monitor the truck, and send and receive messages with the driver – similar to email.

You'll still be home for Thanksgiving, right?

Are you still going to take the same number of days of home time? You're doing your DM a solid by taking this extra load, they should do the same and make sure you get the same number of days, unless you were getting extra days. Yeah, I'm not a driver yet, but it seems that this give and take needs to be balanced in any line of work.

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I told him no problem, but he ended up telling me to go home for a 34 hour reset, and if they still need me, I could do it on Friday
