2. Now you set your alarm based on local time and don't worry because you already set your ETA. Make sure you write your ETA down and include what time zone it is.
3. Take your road atlas and, using a highlighter, draw down each time zone line. That way, when you're referencing it, you'll be reminded.
These are great. Simple and effective. My greatest fear is user error, but there's no cutting the user out of this equation.
My problem is setting my alarm to get up. It's always adjusted to local. If I look at the Qualcomm to figure when my 10 hours is up, then set my alarm, I forget the difference and I'm already an hour late or early.
This confirms my fear. There IS room for a major scew-up! I found an app for Android -- a business calendar -- that allows one to set appointment times WITH the time zone of that appointment. I found another app that allows one to quickly command the phone to check & sync it's time to the local cell towers. Problem is, I'm going to be driving team and will be crossing time zones in my sleep, unable to command this sync before my alarm goes off. My partner does not share this worry.
Google calendar will allow you to set up appointment reminders in a specific timezone too. When you go to create something in it, specify the timezone. The thing I like about google calendar is that it syncs with the google cloud so any device you're logged onto your gmail account with will have it and you can even have your email sync with it for certain reminders (like flights and stuff), if you want to add stuff quickly you can do it on the pc version and your phone will sync with it on it's own.
As for your phone syncing it's time for cell towers, it should do that on it's own when you enter a different time zone, if it isn't you may want to check your settings to make sure you don't have it turned off. for my android tablet I would go to settings then "date and time" then make sure "auto date and time" box is checked as well as "auto time zone" and it will sync to your networks time which will be whatever the tower your signal is coming from. so unless you are like on the border of central and eastern you should be fine. sometimes you might have issues with weak or no cell signal that could cause problems, but you'll still have that issue with other apps too.
If you set something up in google calendar at the local timezone of said event and then set up reminders it will remind you at the correct time even if you are in a different one. so say for example you got a delivery at 2 pm central but you're in eastern still, if you set a reminder for 3 hours prior it will remind you at 11am central time or 12pm eastern time.. or 10 am mountain, 9 am pacific... etc whatever timezone you're in. you just need to specify the time and timezone of the event.
Also if you didn't know this already and you have to do a paper log at anytime, make sure all times recorded at at home terminal time not your local time. so if home terminal is in atlanta and you're in california... record them in atlanta time. An easy way to know your home terminal time is a nice simple $10 watch from walmart, could even take a sharpie and write "home time" on the back and just keep that one set to hometime and use it for all things you need to know the hometime for.
A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Thanks for the advice. I definitely have bad habits of forgetting or refusing to rely on others and pre-over-thinking things. Some say I'm the most organized person they know, but I think they just can't see past my over-compensation ... I'm a closeted slob.
I'm serious about succeeding here & doing my best. Thanks again for answering my questions.
