Sorry just now seen this post... I'm with crst and on 1/21/16 my contract is up with crst and I'm going to stay with them.... Had a talk with my dm today and I got a better opportunity with this company next week... I hope anyways we will see.....

Feel free to ask any questions..

Scott, your reply is slightly confusing, is the new opportunity with CRST? If yes, what will you be doing?

Curious because the full year of working for training companies is always a lively debated subject.

Dm:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

I can relate to that...just read the mess I made under the "terminology" post last night!

Good for you sir! I was hoping that was the case, staying with the company you started with does afford new opportunities after a year. Many times the grass is greener in your own back yard. Patience is a virtue.

Good luck and safe travels.

Thank you for getting back to me :) I do have a few questions. What is the average miles you were getting paid for during your 28 day training and during the remainder of your contract? How are dispatch and the fleet managers with ensuring you're home when you request to be home? How much is the health insurance running and do you happen to know if I can add my stepson to my insurance policy? Do you happen to know how likely it is I will be able to get a new Co driver in a timely matter once my contract is up? (My fellow student who has arranged to be my teammate doesn't want to stay past her contract.) Did you have to wait more then 1 week after orientation to get your trainer? What are the rules with CRST regarding male/female teams not related to each other? Do you have a particular GPS you'd recommend and what would you recommend for a CB radio? Also if it's easier for you to respond via text my numbers 915-205-1342. Thanks again ~Charlie Melanie Neff

Imma try to answer the best I can.. I'm tired just got done driving 10 hours...

1. My trainer was a lease op.. You have to do 10,000 miles within 21 days... Could take longer or like me 3 weeks... As for the rest of my contract I'm not really sure.. I had really good months and bad months... If I had to say it would be about 4000 to 4500 a week team miles....

2. I missed my home time date one time and that's cuz we was stuck in Connecticut with no freight coming out...

3. I didn't take their insurance... So I don't know for sure...

4. I see male/female teams all the time so your good there... If you need a co driver they send you a list of drivers and you call them and make a match... It took me two weeks to get my co driver I have now..

5. Ok I'm special in this case cuz my first trainer quit before I met him and the next trainer already had a student on his truck so it was 3 times a charm for me cuz by the third day after orientation I was on my third trainers truck...

6. I don't use a truck GPS.. I use my atlas,Google maps with street view and my phone GPS...haven't had a problem yet... No cb for me... If you want to get a GPS go with rand McNally 730 or the garmin dezi... I have kids and a wifey at home that sucks up all my money lol so I can't afford one....

I'll text you tomorrow so you have my number just in case you think of more questions...

I think I got them all if not I'm sorry I'm tired and going to lay down...
