Rainy D has a whole post about her Prime experience, and we have a Prime trainer that chimes in from time to time on here. Do a search for Prime and you'll come across the topics. Not sure about Millis, but again, do a search and you should find something.
So I am down to Millis and Prime. Can anybody give me insights on both companies. I live in Ohio and Millis training is 68 miles from my house. Having a family I think I would like to be home while CDL training. I just wonder if Millis gets decent miles or should I stick with Prime. I heard Millis is a good starting company is that true.
It's going to matter if the training at Millis is OTR. At prime it is on the road sleeping on the truck one on one training. So it wouldn't matter if you lived next door to prime you wouldn't be there. If that us the case then go for which suits you. I didn't not get home timw at prime for two whole months since I arrived. Since the. I have been home twice but it sorta is determined by your trainer. Some live near their trainers and get more home time. Others dont. I dont.
Expect to be at prime 6 to 8 weeks before hime time.
A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:
OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
Truck drivers who regularly pick up from or deliver to the shipping ports will often be required to carry a TWIC card.
Your TWIC is a tamper-resistant biometric card which acts as both your identification in secure areas, as well as an indicator of you having passed the necessary security clearance. TWIC cards are valid for five years. The issuance of TWIC cards is overseen by the Transportation Security Administration and the Department of Homeland Security.
