Just an update, seems jb hunt is no longer offering this. It ended with the start of the new year. Bad part was the recruiter did not know until now.

Harry, I drive for Schneider (just finished first year) and a cousin recently was hired onto Schneider from the HCC program. I'm originally from Hagerstown and remember when the Bowman name wasn't on everything in town.

Schneider has an Operating Center in Carlisle, PA with lots of business done out of there. Also, Schneider has a Target dedicated account out of Stuart's Draft, VA (straight down I-81) which is a pretty good deal. I worked it over the New Year's weekend. It was all drop/hook. They told me they are looking for drivers. No loading/unloading of freight.

Also, if Schneider offers you a sign-on bonus it IS IN ADDITION TO your tuition reimbursement. I'm not a company recruiter and this could change, but that's the way it has been done for quite a while now. Also, my tuition reimbursement was for up to $6,000.

I've really enjoyed driving for Schneider and have no plans to leave. I sometimes wish I lived in your area because of all the freight and options Schneider has there.

If you want more information or if I can be of any help, please private message me and I'll be glad to help out.

Good luck!

Only good thing about hagerstown is that its smack dab in the middle of ltl and otr companies... Lol... I never have a problem getting home for home time...

LTL:

Less Than Truckload

Refers to carriers that make a lot of smaller pickups and deliveries for multiple customers as opposed to hauling one big load of freight for one customer. This type of hauling is normally done by companies with terminals scattered throughout the country where freight is sorted before being moved on to its destination.

LTL carriers include:

  • FedEx Freight
  • Con-way
  • YRC Freight
  • UPS
  • Old Dominion
  • Estes
  • Yellow-Roadway
  • ABF Freight
  • R+L Carrier

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.
