Hey congrats Jeffry!
Without a doubt your attitude is huge in this industry, and never more so than when you're a new driver. When you're new to something that is difficult, complex, and dangerous the veterans will expect new people to handle themselves exactly the way you've described handling yourself. They don't want people who feel entitled to things they haven't earned, they certainly don't want complainers, and most importantly no one gets the benefit of the doubt in this industry. You aren't a trucker until you've proven you can do it. Prove to them that you have what it takes to be a valuable member of their company and then you should expect the perks and rewards that come with it.
I love your approach Jeffry. Keep at it and keep us updated!

As some of you may know i started in this industry with Roehl Transport in there flatbed division and left for a diffrent flatbed job hauling steel locally. The company i presently work for is very small running about 5 spread axles 2 or 3 at times multi axel sleds and 5 owner op's. Everyone I work with there has been there in the range of 2 to 5 years with the exception of one guy who has been with our company aince they opened the doors 20 years ago. Recently i made the 6 month mark and was given a 3 percent raise without asking or expecting it. I was very greatful for this because 3 out of the 5 other spread axel drivers have never gotten a pay raise and i am the newest employee here. Now here is why i believe i was rewarded with this raise. Never since I have started here have I complained about a load or refused a load like many of the others i work with. I most days am one of the first to arrive at the yard and almost always the last to go home and i always help out with extra work when asked to do so. Beig the lowest guy on the totem pole i am often given the loads most of our other driver wont or dont want to do and that doesn't bother me infact I would say that it has helped me immensly because it has taight me how to work quickly but safely and helped me to get comfortable with difficult backing situations.
