Hello everyone. First post for me. I report for orientation Monday in Salt Lake City with Pride Transport. Sounds like SLC is a popular hub just now! I was wondering if anyone has any insight to Pride Transport?

I don't know much about their fleet, other than them hauling refer and some flatbed. I was informed that Pride and CR England are owned by the same family. Quite a few trucking companies terminals are with in walking distance from each other out there in Salt Lake City, you have Pride, Cr England, Kelle, Swift and a few other companies.

Best luck on your journey!! :-)

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

I have a friend who pulled flatbeds for Pride for a year or so. I don't know any details on pay, benefits, equipment, home time, etc. but she said they were a good company and she's been driving for 20 years.

Thank you for your input Sunrise and Bud. I think I will post an update periodically so there will be a little more info available for the next person.

Barry - please keep us posted, soon as I sell my place here in San Diego (which should be on market by end of next week), I am relocating to north of SLC and Pride is at top of my list. They have a great pet policy and some "conveniences" that will make living on the road easier.

Barry - checking in to see how things are going with you @ Pride. Put my house on the market last Fri night, got four offers on Monday and my home is now in Escrow as of Wed. Looks like my career and geographic change is happening quickly.

Hello everyone,Scott Sorry I have dropped off for a while. I am currently two weeks into my six week training with Pride Transportation. I am very happy with my situation.

After a couple months of discussions with my recruiter I accepted an invitation to attend orientation. Transportation, lodging and breakfast and lunch Were provided. The orientation was very well organized and productive.

My trainer is a very good fit. He is close to my age, experienced ( 15 years not months), patient, articulate and thorough.

After a slow start freight wise our dispatcher explained that there was a soft spot in the freight chain. We are currently recieving our next load shortly after we begin our current load. All is good!

Pride has proven to be a very driver friendly company. They have been very flexible and accomodating. They have already worked out a strategy to Provide for my home time (my trainer and I do not live near each other).

Their equipment is 2013 and newer with the 2013's phasing out this summer. Equipment is maintained in emacculate condition. If it is broke it is fixed, no question about it.

I will give another update when my training is completed. In the Mean time if I can answer any questions please ask.

Barry

Dispatcher:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Also waiting to hear more about Pride from you Barry. I'm two weeks from start of school, about six weeks from looking to hire on, and am liking a lot of what I am hearing about Pride. When you get the time, please let us know how things are going Barry.
