Looks like you have less than a week hopefully, and clear skys ahead.

Be good, and if not good, then careful.

Looks like my training is shorter than I anticipated. I got crappy hours the past couple of days, in my mind I have 40+ hours left. But we got a message saying I'm to be dropped off in Dallas TX. I get to test out and get my own rig and I guess work my way home (not quite sure). I wasn't really expecting this as it came as quite a surprise. I'm excited but a tad bit nervous lol.

Let us all know what truck you get, and how it feels to sit at the helm.

Congrats.

Thanks! I'll be sure to share what I get. Hopefully everything goes as planned. As of now I'm not quite sure what's going on. We had a JT load going to Fort Worth TX and then I was supposed to get off in Dallas. But one of our brake chambers went out on the truck in New Mexico (at a weigh station 😖) and I had to milk it to a Petro to get it fixed, Air pressure couldn't get up to 100psi in the tanks. That caused us to get the load swapped. Our new load is going to Florida and is basically a team load because it has to be there tomorrow and we are 30 hours away. So I'm not quite sure what the plan is, but I got my hopes up for getting a truck tomorrow. Only time will tell now.

Thank you all!! I was assigned my truck yesterday but couldn't use it just yet. By the time it was assigned I couldn't get ahold of my fleet manager. But I'm in it now waiting for a load and figure out the reefer business. They gave me either a 2013/14 KW T680. It's taking me a while to learn this rig, but overall I like it. I would include a pic but it doesn't seem like I can via my phone.

I do have some discrepancies at this point though. I got off my trainers truck with 40 hours left of training while he had a load going to Florida. Now all I did for training was dry van , so I have no experience with reefers. It turns out there is an orientation for reefers on this dedicated Perdue account, but I have to get to the east coast. Well I could've been a lot closer if I was dropped in Florida vs Texas. Now I've got to be coached over the phone (I guess) hauling reefers until I can attend orientation. Now to make things simpler why couldn't I do a couple dry van loads to get me where I need to be? None of this really makes sense. And it turns out I'll be out for at least another week until I get to go home. I will have been out 8 weeks away from home, to receive around 5 days of home time. I wasn't too thrilled about that either. But oh well what can I do. At least I'm on my own and learning new things and hopefully I'll start moving to see what how the pay looks.

Fleet Manager:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Dry Van:

A trailer or truck that that requires no special attention, such as refrigeration, that hauls regular palletted, boxed, or floor-loaded freight. The most common type of trailer in trucking.

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Are you in an automatic or manual? I personally love the KW 680. TransAm runs the 700 and 689 exclusively. I think the 680 is a lot roomier!
