Retested today after failing Tuesday (stupid mistake on the 90 degree backing). Bad, bad case of test anxiety. My 7 scored drives were all in the 86-95 range. I scored 73 on the CDL road test which was significantly easier than any previous drive. You need a 70 to pass. Still, I get the same license as my classmates who scored higher. So very relieved this part is over. Heading up to Joplin tomorrow for Orientation on Monday. With a little luck I'll be out on the road with my finisher on Friday.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I totally agree with you - that score you get really means nothing. You pass, congratulations. You fail, just go do it again. It will be a couple of years before you get to where you are a competent professional at this stuff. But now you can get started on the real learning curve!

Congratulations!

Way to go!!! I also was a bundle of nerves during my road test yesterday so I REALLY understand. Just the fact that we passed is something we can be very proud of ourselves. So a huge congratulations on your accomplishment.
