My Cat Loves The Truck

I was really worried my 10 year old laid back cat would not adjust well to living on the truck. People told me his age would be a factor and to expect him to vomit and get diarrhea. Perhaps stop eating or using the litter box.

He's been on the truck with me for 4 weeks now and he loves it... so much so that yesterday when the truck went into the shop and I got us a motel room.. the cat refused to leave the truck. He screamed bloody murder and tried to jump back up my truck steps. In the room he yelled at me then hid under the bed.

I have his 5ft tall cat pole bungeed to the cabinets and he sits on his pole and watches the trucks park. When I start the truck he climbs into my top cabinet and stays in his bed there. We go back on the road in the morning... I'm dying to see his reaction of going back on the truck.

Anyone have crazy pets on their truck?

I'll be having a cat and my mother in my truck tuesday or Wed depending on which day I go back to Katy and get in my truck and start my journey.

my cats are on the older side as well as have never liked car rides. All the times except this last one that I have had to go somewhere for my trucking life I have taken my cat with me. First time she did fine, yowll'd a bit but got quiet after about 45 min or so except when we slowed down for something. the other 2 times she got car sick (both there and back) initially then settled down and was fine. still used little box and didn't have the runs.

Not sure which is the crazier one, my mother or my cat...

For the record I take care of my mother, her health has gotten bad enough recently that it's hard for her to hold a full time job that can pay the bills. so she's coming on the road with me and we're getting rid of apartment to save for about a year to buy a house. over $1,000 a month in bills that'll be no more... = savings towards down payment. 12 grand right there. Plus the higher income... should be doable in a year.

My wife and I are thinking about becoming a driving team and we both want to take our cat with us. How does the little box wotk in the truck, as well as food and water for the kitty. I'm assuming cat cat food would be the more likely route to go since its less likely to make a mess. Just wondering how you manage those things.

I use the pine litter another driver suggested... no cat smell at all and you just throw it out when the wood pieces crumble to saw dust. I have mine in the passenger foot well.. but I know teams that took the door off the bottom cabinet and put the box in there.

I have his 5.5 foot tall cat pole bungeed to the cabinets. Under that is a big bowl of food... dry and a traveling water bowl that won't tip. As for the mess... I bought a rechargeable Shark hand vac... and mess is gone in a second. Teuck was in shop and rhe mechanic didn't believe I had a cat until he saw him. He was shocked at no smell no mess

We just said goodbye to our cats today. I am heartbroken right now. I will get to take one of them with me, so I know I will be seeing him again in about 2 months....but the pain is so real. I hope he adjusts to life on the road. I know my hubby and I are gonna spoil him like crazy when we get him back.

Well... in my case I went to prime sept 19th. I came home for a week in Nov the. For a week during Christmas and new years. I didn't return home until March 1st. No one would take my cat so he stayed home with my brother checking on him a few days a week. I felt sooo guilty. But I van honestly say he took over my truck.

He's very happy... so I'm sure yours will adjust as well. I hit a bump ans his bed moved so he whined until I set it right again. At teuck washes he hides in the top cubby hike until done.... but he feels safe and secure.
