I have read similiar topics on here. Some people have gotten letters wrote from people that they have worked for. Also having letters from family members or those that know of your circumstances. As far as your college days if you have some sort of proof that you were attending school during the time you stated will work. The more info you can gather regarding your employment gaps the better. Good luck with your new adventure.
Yes, you need to explain every day. If you were in school, did you study enough to be considered full time?
Caring for a family member also counts. Can someone support that (Dr, minister, etc.)? Carl's suggestion for a letter works here, too.
Basically, if you've been doing more than just watching Price Is Right every day, that'll work. Even "looking for a job" is good.

Hey, guys!
I've been a lurker here on TT and I'm looking into beginning a new career in trucking. My driving and criminal records are clean, but I've had a pretty sizable employment gap in my work history over the past three years. I had been attending college, but ended up moving back home after my dad's health started to fail. In that time, I worked under the table as a freelance video editor, but nothing that I filed taxes for. The situation at home has improved enough to where I've been applying for paid training programs, but this employment gap seems to have me hamstrung. I'm expecting a call back from my Prime recruiter later this afternoon, but the person I spoke to earlier said that this could immediately put me out of the running for consideration. Has anyone here had any experience with this problem and can offer some advice? Thanks!
