As far as I know, yes. The CDL is now fairly standardized Federally, although States may have some variations. I would recommend testing in your home State for your CDL permit, since you already have your regular License issued by your State. If you go to a different State for school you may get your CDL License in that state and then transfer it back to your home State. Wow I typed State quite a few times there! And there is a chance what I just said is completely wrong!

It may have changed but I had to prove residency in New Mexico to get mine, whereas a year later Arizona didn't even ask. Now in Missouri I had to prove residency again. So it may vary state to state, but I think you have to have to have your CDL in the state you're living in and you have 30 days to obtain a new one in a new state you move to.
