I was on facebook, and replied to a post (about this "safety bar" now being sold for incab safety), by Rebel. Another driver posted that for 15 years, his incab safety system has been a 3/8" rope, run from one door handle, thru the air horn loop, and tied to the other door handle. He called it his "Pull-Honk-Shoot" deterrent system. I know that theres alot of concern about safety for drivers, and I think this system would be perfect. It will wake you up, scare the heck out of the would be assailant, and notify others around you that something is up. And lets face it....its cheap. Especially since the bar system that was featured sells for the sweet sum of $249.00.... I'd be at the hardware store getting me some rope !!

Saw a driver years ago with the same hook up. We were driving together out of Flint Mich. headed for Escondido Ca. We layed over in a truck stop one night and when I went to wake him up that morning. He took it down when I rapped on the window to wake him up. He told me a head of time not to touch his door just in case he forgot to lock it. He showed me how to hook one up. Real simple and yes, very cheap.

Would be cool to do one and then take a picture to show everyone. Would tick those people off at Rebel for sure.

This is one of the things I plan on doing when I get my truck. Although I understand a lot of the newer trucks are putting the air horn on the steering wheel instead of the traditional pull. Kinda hate to see that, we all remember as kids giving the truckers the arm pump to get them to sound their horn.

I have rarely felt unsafe, but...... one never knows. I noted this and it sounds like a great idea.

I am a funny guy about the whole thing. When I was younger, I hung out in biker bars and partied on the wrong side of town. But I also never carry or flash around large amounts of cash, I am always situation-ally aware. I posted in here that we stayed in TA near Dallas where a driver had been robbed and beaten to death. The thing that struck me about the place was, there was one over head light for the whole parking area, and when you went to get out of your truck, you could not see between the trailers. Every place is different and every different place requires you to be aware.
