Ruminator, I hope yo can get over that little pesky thing that's bugging you, because unless you are an owner operator who doesn't mind burning a lot more fuel than your fellow company drivers you are going to be ascending those hills just like the rest of us... slowly. Really you need to take your ego out of this job - that can only hurt your chances at success.
Unless I just missed it, I didn't notice anyone mentioning how the governing of these company trucks seriously affects your ability to climb a grade at higher speeds. Your governor keeps you from being able to get enough fuel to the engine for more pulling performance and therefore you are going to climb hills at a slower rate. It is a very small thing - don't let it overwhelm you.
