I'm down to two more days until I head out to Missouri. After training is done and I go solo, will I get to choose available trucks or to they assign what's available? OR do they automatically assign me to a lightweight truck? I will be pulling reefer. I know running light weight trucks offers higher pay rate. I rather take the pay cut by running a full size instead. Either way as long as I'm on the road, I'm happy. So anyways, do I have a choice or will I?

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.

When I was assigned my truck at Prime, I noticed they encourage the light weight for the reefer drivers but you can request a full size. I was flatbed and we drive full size. I was assigned an almost new truck, a 2015 Freightliner and this was in May 2014. Another guy at the same time got a few years older truck that needed some attention in the shop and was pink! So it's luck of the draw for company drivers. But you can choose lightweight or full size in the reefer division. Regardless of what you get it's still going to be a decent truck. I'm working for a small company now and drive a 2011 Volvo, I really miss my Prime truck. With a big company like Prime you won't get anything to old.
