The problem is, I work from 7-4 and then have school from 430-9 so I have no idea when I'm going to be able to respond back to the recruiters.

When making contact with recruiters, let them know your schedule. Ours was more than willing to communicate via email.

Just curious, which state did you decide to test for your Commercial Learner's Permit, DE or PA?

I just finished CDL school in PA even though I live in NJ.

I had applied to Schneider previously before starting school and then applied to a few after I was already in school during the 2nd week after field recruiters spoke at the school looking for students. TMC and Fedex Freight at Newark Airport (job was "cancelled) were the other companies I applied to. TMC rejected my application right off the bat, no reason was given.

After the 2nd week of school and after I had applied (again), Schneider contacted me via email and has kept in contact by phone. I respond by either if I can't take the call.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

I'm testing in Delaware. Think I'll keep my Delaware residence and just explain that I'm able to leave from other terminals. My house in de is only twenty minutes from Philly, tops.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.
