Hey everyone. I've been considering perusing this career for a few years now but need a few pointers and questions answered. I reside in the Cleveland Ohio area. Im trying to find the best company that will offer paid training so any suggestions would be great along with any experiences you would care to share. I also am curious as to what these companies look for when they do background checks. I have a little bit of a record so Im wondering if that's going to ruin it all for me. Any input would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
