Hey folks, what's the procedure for snagging a picture out of my phone, or from facebook, to put on my profile here?

Throw them on photobucket or a similar file sharing site then put those links on your profile.

It's all there. Open the Photo option where it will say "instructions for sharing photos from photo sharing sites". First thing you'll need is an account with a photo-hosting web site like Photobucket.
