what does it mean to float gears?

Frank, that is just a method that truck drivers use to shift gears without using the clutch. Don't even worry about that now, you'll have plenty of time later to get to that. For now, you've got a lot on your plate just getting this exemption handled.

Float Gears:

An expression used to describe someone who is shifting gears without using the clutch at all. Drivers are taught to "Double Clutch" or press and release the clutch twice for each gear shift. If you're floating gears it means you're simply shifting without using the clutch at all.

@ Old School

Thanks for your reply. I had just realized as i was getting some food to eat. That you had mentioned a driver with 1 leg driving. Well that settles all my concerns then. If that person can drive then i must be able to be allowed to drive then i would imagine.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my concerns. That is great news on my end.

Frank, I just want you to realize that it is an involved process. It will take time to get it done. Hang in there and keep coming back in here if you hit a snag. I know that Robert B can help you. Like I said he has been through the whole process, and he understands how to do it.
