"Better to be late with a load than hurt or dead on the road..." (Copyright 2016)
Back to Gladhand's original thought about the priority of safe thinking. Congratulations, Devon, on reaching this level of thought.
You consider your close calls as mini-lessons on safety. I'd like to say you'll be a Million Mile driver in no time, but that's a contradiction in terms. However, you have the attitude to get there.
Swift has a shirt for sale that has "Swift - Safety First" printed on the back. I modified my shirt to say "Swift - Safety Is Invisible", meaning constantly having an attitude of safety helps to get your job done without incident. Safe driving is not a reward, safe driving just makes getting your job done that much easier.
Get to be home for thanksgiving and I'll be able to be home around Christmas the way my schedule is looking. I started November feeling down and leave it feeling great. I have come a long way as I have stated before and want to encourage my fellow rookies that haven't been solo for too long. If you can make it passed the difficult times, better days are definitely ahead. It's funny to think of the things I used to stress about that I no longer worry about.
I think seeing the clean trucks in California influenced me. I constantly find myself obsessing over the cleanliness of my truck. I'm planning on getting lug and hub covers for my wheels as well. Just something about a clean truck that makes me feel great. I hope to make this thread into something just to share my current thoughts on my journey out here. Hope everyone had a happy thanksgiving whether they are at home or on the road!
