Just thought I would put this out there.

On 12/19 i70 east bound will be completely closed between i270 and i225. Plan accordingly.

Sorry I forgot that is from 11pm to 5am.

Thanks for the reminder, Pat. I drive there to and from work. They have been so lame with this stretch of road. It's taken them two whole years to finish the Havana ramp and now it looks like they're going to be working on the Peoria ramp (where my terminal is).

Arghhh, arghhh, arghh!

Sorry. Just had to b**** about this for a sec.

Thank you. I feel better now.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

Yeah, that stretch of road is bad when there's no construction. The endless construction the past few years has made it worse. And there's no good alternate route if you're headed east on I-70 from I-25 or I-270. Best plan is to avoid going that way during those hours if you can. I-76 to E-470 is a distant second Plan B.

The best alternate route for this stretch of 270 and I70 is to go North a few blocks and take 56th Avenue. It's best to get off at Quebec, head North, past the TA and turn right onto 56th and stay with it until you get to Tower and then get back on I70 east.

For this, 56th works in either direction.

All the local drivers use 56th instead of 270 as it is almost always backed up. There are traffic lights but it does move faster when you're in a jam.

Bud A., ...DUDE!

is that a jackalope on your wall? You definitely have to be sure not to hit any of those while on the road.

They are very bad in the western states. Be very careful those antlers can puncture a tire. smile.gif

Haha, yes, that is a large California jackalope that is on the wall at a certain establishment in Weed, California, where I once did a 34. Unfortunately, these big California jackalopes were hunted to extinction shortly after the gold rush, so their range is mostly limited to Wyoming these days, though I've heard there are sometimes small herds that wander into southern Montana and southeastern Idaho, and occasionally into northern Colorado and western Nebraska.

As to taking 56th instead of I-70, yes, that is a good route, but if you're not from there, it can get a little confusing to get on from 270, especially coming from the north since you have to cut left across three lanes from the Vasquez exit in a very short space. Plus, stop lights and residential neighborhoods from Peoria to Peña. But it's definitely the shorter route.
