Is it just me or did the font change on the forum? I am starting to think all this CDL studying is messing with my brain!embarrassed.gif

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

Yeah, it changed. Yesterday I went through and made a bunch of updates to try to get things looking right on the various versions of Internet Explorer. In the process, some of the changes will propagate to other areas of the website also.

Is it harder to read now or have any of the changes you may have noticed made things look or function worse?

Let me know what browser you're using also.

Getting things to look right is so difficult because you have numerous operating systems, dozens of different browser versions, and screen sizes ranging from four inches to 30+ inches. So it's all a compromise and I'm trying to get the settings so they'll work best for the greatest number of people.

Any feedback would be very much appreciated.

I am using Chrome on a 17" monitor. New font looks OK, sort of looks like it has a shadow behind it. I preferred the old font but this one is not terrible, just different.

I don't think I have noticed anything else. Just got through Air Brakes and Combination Vehicles sections yesterday so I am trying to keep my head from falling off my shoulders!

I would like to suggest you add a "preview post" button when creating a new post or reply. Most forums have something like that and it is nice.

Combination Vehicle:

A vehicle with two separate parts - the power unit (tractor) and the trailer. Tractor-trailers are considered combination vehicles.

Just realized one more thing. Add an "edit" button so I can fix the typo in my last post's subject line! lol.

Hmmmmmmm.........I actually removed the light-colored shadow that it had which may make the font look a little wider. That, ironically, may make it appear as if it has a shadow now.

I'm using Chrome but on Linux. I'm going to check out how it looks on Windows. There may be a significant difference.

The preview idea is a good idea! Let me ponder that a bit. People have been clamoring for a way to edit their posts and seeing a live preview below the version you're typing in might be just the perfect way to do it! Let people see the live preview as they type maybe?

hmmmm.....I've been stuck for a couple weeks on how to implement the post editing feature and you might have just given me the idea I was looking for thank-you.gif

Whoa! My bad! I made the changes to eliminate the text shadow but didn't implement them here in the forum. I just made the change so let me know if the font looks better now.

Just goes to show - if you have a nickel in one hand and good intentions in the other and put them together, what do you have? A nickel! That's about it. smile.gif
