I-80 Nebraska going west (i thank the guy who slowed us all down) the road changed to a sheet of ice. We pulled over on exit 179 to wait it out and almost didnt stop at the stop sign. Whoa! Looking at google maps, its frozen to Ogallala. Then theres an accident too. Probably the guy who didnt see 6 trucks going 45mph. Or maybe he thought he could handle it. He cruised by us all at like 60mph. Be safe out there.

Wyoming DOT WebCams looking pretty nasty in that area.

I pity the folks trying for 80 through Reno/Donner - nice storms really racking their way through that area. Mandatory chains, and it's just SUPER NASTY up that way.

BE SAFE y'all - USE YOUR HEADS.

Slow miles are better than NO MILES - and the truck stop is much safer than THE DITCH.

DOT:

Department Of Transportation

A department of the federal executive branch responsible for the national highways and for railroad and airline safety. It also manages Amtrak, the national railroad system, and the Coast Guard.

State and Federal DOT Officers are responsible for commercial vehicle enforcement. "The truck police" you could call them.
