Old School. Thank you for pointing that out. I do not have a problem learning from multiple trainers. I was just worried about the training taking longer than expected. I know how to drive trucks and have been doing so in the military for the past 8 years. So im very comfortable going up hill downhill backing up etc. LIke I said just worried about switching out and how long it will take for me to get another trainer to continue and finish. I appreciate your information. I like the way you break things down and give newcomers a different perceptive on things. Thank you so much

Glad to help Kurtis, and I am sorry, I forgot to address the additional time issue.

I honestly don't see that as an issue either. There is no money to be made for the company by keeping you with a trainer longer than you need. I remember being in one of Knight's terminals when a trainer came in to talk with the safety director. The trainer had a trainee with him and he was working on convincing the safety director that the trainee was ready for his own truck. The safety guy kept saying, "This guy has only been on your truck for a week!" The trainer kept saying, I'm telling you we are wasting our time keeping him with me any longer, he drives better than me - he needs to be out here making money for the company, and we've got other guys waiting in line for a trainer. Let's put this guy in his own truck and move on to the next one."

The safety director took the trainer's word and put the guy in his own truck. These training companies know their trainers and they will trust their judgement. If you are ready to go, the trainer will turn you loose.

Terminal:

A facility where trucking companies operate out of, or their "home base" if you will. A lot of major companies have multiple terminals around the country which usually consist of the main office building, a drop lot for trailers, and sometimes a repair shop and wash facilities.

OOS:

When a violation by either a driver or company is confirmed, an out-of-service order removes either the driver or the vehicle from the roadway until the violation is corrected.
