3 months ago...I had never pulled a trailer of any kind or driven a manual transmission ....but I managed to get through school & now have a class A to show for it...Everything I accomplished seemed like a big obstacle until I pulled it off...If it is something you really want to to do ..go for it & be prepared to use all of your effort to learn what you need to & you will do it :) I will continue posting on the general thread on occasion when I have something relevant.

I wish there were a "like" feature for posts like this.

Awesome job Johnny. Haven't posted in your training thread but have been reading it and pulling for you all the way. I don't know **** about trucking but Something tells me your perseverance will come in handy down the road. i bet many people that passed it on the first try never wanted it like you did. Be safe and keep posting please.

I don't believe it says anywhere on your license, "Class A CDL in 'x' tries". Great job. Congrats!

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.
