Has set back my orientation with Werner by 3 days, but there is no sense in going there and being sent home. I have not had a chance to get to my DR in the last 9 months. I had my wife check my BP last night and it was bad. I have lost 45 lbs since I have been out with CRST, and hoped that would do it. But it did not. I checked in at 160/80. So I am back on BP meds. My recruiter gave me no problems, and I will moniter my BP through the nexy couple of days to be sure. I wanted that 2 year card, but......... I may never get that at my age.

Hey, I wouldn't give up on that idea! I haven't had high blood pressure so I haven't researched a lot of the specifics but I would bet anything that with the right nutrition and exercise plan you could get it down considerably lower. As you've proven now, it's not just about weight. Although congrats on losing 45 pounds - that's incredible!!! But the proper nutrition and exercise are going to be needed to get it to move lower.

Personally I believe that age itself isn't the culprit when it comes to our physical deterioration the way most people believe it is. I believe it's nutrition & fitness. I'm 42 and even though I've been an athlete my whole life I'm in the best shape now that I've ever been in - including when I was 17 playing varsity football. I'm stronger, faster, far more flexible, and have better balance and agility than I did back then. I can do a full split, I can balance in a handstand for about as long as my arms can hold up, and I can run for miles and miles and miles.

I'm kind of on a mission to live as if age has nothing to do with physical deterioration. At some point I'm sure I'll find a limit where I can't improve any longer, but I can certainly say that at 42 years old I haven't come close to reaching my peak physically. Very few people would believe you could say that at 42 but I'm certain I'm going to be saying that for a lot of years to come.

One time I read about a long term study that was done on men. It said that if you maintain the proper fitness and nutrition routines a man will not lose any muscle mass between the ages of 30 and 60! Can you believe that???? You can be just as strong at 60 as you were at 30 without anything other than the proper nutrition and exercise. I'll bet not 5% of our society would have believed that if you asked em.

I think getting that blood pressure down to healthy levels without medication would be a fantastic long term goal for you. It might take a couple of years to get there, but I'd bet anything it's totally possible. And without a doubt you would feel like a million bucks!!!

Thank you for the encouragement! One of the many reasons I want to go solo is to be able to start and maintain a good work out. Being in that team truck, we just never stopped. I love to walk, and that is something I am planning on doing as a solo driver, plus I plan to get a set of dumb bells. I also have been reading a lot of good articles in various trucking magazines about good workouts. I plan to lose another 20 to 30 lbs and that will put me in great shape. If I can get down to around 230 to 220, I will have very little fat left. I am a naturally big guy and will never weigh below 200. I would have to lose too much muscle for that. I am also a smoker, and very soon, that is on my list to take care of. I did not want to try and do that while I was teaming though, because........... I was afraid I would have run my co driver away. I might have bit him or something. embarrassed.gif
