You make your wife sleep on the top bunk???

My other half is 6'4" and can easily use either bunk, but if we're in a truck together, we'll both be in the bottom bunk lol.

Oh and the only way a trainee is getting my bottom bunk is if I'm driving and they need to sleep as I don't allow anyone in the top bunk while the truck is moving. It's pretty gross if they didn't bring a sleeping bag that can easily be moved to the bottom. I'm not at all fond of someone having the nerve to use my personal bedding. Be sure to bring a SLEEPING BAG.

This topic is very fortuitous. Going to CDL school this August and at 6'6" was just wondering how uncomfortable it will be for me in a standard OTR truck. Thanks.

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

OTR:

Over The Road

OTR driving normally means you'll be hauling freight to various customers throughout your company's hauling region. It often entails being gone from home for two to three weeks at a time.

At 6'6" you don't want a Volvo as they aren't as wide, therefore shorter bunk, but you'd have no trouble in an international prostar it a Freightliner. Twin xlong bottom bunk.
