Running it can change your route too. So keep that in mind. If you were originally supposed to go over I 70 through CO then run the Mac 27, it might now send you to I 80 in WY depending on the prices of fuel and your distance to the cheapest fuel stop based on the amount you yell it you have in your tank.

If you wait until you are on a route you want, it will send you to the closest stop and change the route to what you are on.

FYI.,..there is a company driver voluntary class at Campus Inn on Wednesdays for new drivers. It discusses this and much more. Getting better fuel.mileage..etc. Next time you are in Sprimo head on over. It usually start at 1300

I was told by my fleet manager it Would-be deducted all at once

Fleet Manager:

Dispatcher, Fleet Manager, Driver Manager

The primary person a driver communicates with at his/her company. A dispatcher can play many roles, depending on the company's structure. Dispatchers may assign freight, file requests for home time, relay messages between the driver and management, inform customer service of any delays, change appointment times, and report information to the load planners.

Has anyone ever gotten in trouble for siphoning gas out of their tractor tank and putting it in their reefer?

(Not that I've ever thought about doing such a thing.)

Reefer:

A refrigerated trailer.

Reefer and tractor are taxed at different rates, so it'd be illegal. That's what, for instance, those scaleless 'check stations' are on I-80 going through Nevada. They stick a dip stick in your tanks and check for the color, as the two fuels are different colors.

Well, you're half right. Reefer and tractor fuel are taxed differently. But the color check is to make sure nobody's using red #1 diesel, which is cheaper but also dirtier. It's commonly referred to as "off-road diesel" and intended for farm equipment and heavy machinery. You don't put #1 in your reefer any more than you would your tractor. You use the same #2 diesel for both.

So while yes, technically it would be illegal to siphon fuel from one to feed the other, there would be no way to trace it aside from the fact that your truck would appear to have mysteriously just guzzled 20 or so gallons of fuel without moving. Better to just request reefer fuel.
