Break In Work History !!

I am about to enter cdl school and was wondering if I had a break in my work history about 3 years ago between jobs I took six months off before getting another job. Other than that I have been employed for the last ten years. Will the six month break hurt my chances with major carriers out there ? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated !! Thanks

CDL:

Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

A CDL is required to drive any of the following vehicles:

  • Any combination of vehicles with a gross combined weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds, providing the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of the vehicle being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any single vehicle with a GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing another not in excess of 10,000 pounds.
  • Any vehicle, regardless of size, designed to transport 16 or more persons, including the driver.
  • Any vehicle required by federal regulations to be placarded while transporting hazardous materials.

If the break was a few years ago it will have no effect on finding work. If the break would have been over the past 6 months there are a few companies that probably would have passed on you. I don't think you have anything to be worried about with that.
