What Do You Miss While On The Road?

Straightforward question. Can apply to pretty much anything that we sacrifice from our previous life at home while being on the road.

This thought came to my mind when I had to wake up in the middle of the night DESPERATELY needing to use the restroom. One thing I really miss about sleeping in my own bed at home is the the luxury of having a bathroom within arms reach. I hate the fact that I have to wake up, get dressed, and have my head about me to walk across a truck stop (usually from the spot furthest from the building) just to use the restroom. By the time I finish my business and back to my truck, it takes a little bit to fall back asleep. Pro tip: Don't eat too much Taco Bell before turning in for the night.

I miss having an available shower 24/7. Part of my trip planning is figuring out where I have a shower credit, and can I make it there today? Every time I fuel I write down where and when so I can keep track of my shower credits, and when they expire.

It may sound trivial to some, but when I see a credit go "poof" after 10 days, a little part of me goes with it. It's a constant game with me to strategically shower whenever and wherever I can. The struggle.....

Here lately I have just missing everything about home. I am not sure what is causing this all of the sudden after a year and a half now. I absolutely love working here and they treat me well however hometime isn't the greatest. I just miss being home sometimes and the everyday things that come with it.

I miss my wife and kids. Helping my son with his math homework. Getting random hugs from my daughter. Welding in the shop, building motors, sitting at the dinner table with the family. Taking the kids to the park. My shower head. Home cooked food. Cuddling up with my wife at bed time... even as a local driver I miss these things.
